The story of Shooting Sport in FISU started in Pilsen, Czech Republic, in 2003, where the first edition of the competition was staged after it was postponed due to a flooding of the venue in 2002, the original World University Championships year. An optional sport on the Summer Universiade a couple of times as well, the sport brings many high-level athletes to this FISU event.
